low budget horror movie rant

I love really low-budget stuff but there is one HUGE problem with almost all of the ones I’ve seen. The pacing is slow as shit.

Long sections of the movie go by where nothing happens except some douchebags sit around talking. This would be ok if:

a) the dialog was good. But it never is. Cheesy dialog is great for one liners but for long sections it kills any joy.

b) the acting was good. But it never is because it’s always the directors drunk and retarded uncle who is just in the movie so he can pick up chicks in the bar using the line “Hey, have you seen my movie.”

But I love that the really low budget movies have to make do with ideas and props they can scrounge up their parents basement. When it works out it’s classic: Evil Dead, El Mariachi and scores of lesser offering that deserve to be seen.

When it doesn’t work it gets released by Brentwood with 6 other movies for under $10
